Does it take several bloomings for the true pattern to show up??

So I get home and Im inspecting the bottom leaf and I see two more spikes starting to slightly emerge:lol:. I am very excited it doesnt have any of those areial roots that are white ,I know the top roots are very green and so are the bottom ones. So thats good. Anyone know when areial roots begin to grow?
So if these are two more spikes coming out, what do I do when they emerge and bloom do I leave the first two other ones still on the plant? Thanks for reading!!:biggrin:

I put them in a mix and I think the mix dried them out too much. So as a result they lost some roots.. one had buds when they were small the were green , when they got bigger then they were plumpy shiny green, then they started to dry up and then turned maroon,then one day after the next they shriveled up a bit and the stem that connects the bud turned pale brown and they fell off...
So disappointing but does anyone know what happened in regards to the color change and all?

I got 100% results...some spikes went on to give me flowers with no keikis to follow (about 20%) but most spikes followed up with growing new plants (with multiple keikis on some spikes!) and some, almost 3 months later now, are beginning to grow more keikis. The downside in this (I suspect) will be the potential in growing new spikes this coming season, and finding the room to add these to my collection. So many Phals...so little room.:coverlaugh:
I had a lot of fun with this over the summer. Just took some photos this evening of some of these babies that are in close view.
The last 2 pics are of keikis that have since been separated.

It's a really cute phal, that looks like it's either a primary hybrid or something that hasn't been excessively hybridized. The leaves are large and a bit wavy like some species phals, and the blooms are small, and fragrant!! Smells very sweet. Also has 2 crowns, but I don't know if it's 2 plants, or just a basal keiki. I had to rearrange the windowsill after taking the picture, because with such large leaves it's hard to fit it there!

I think this one is a stunner, and even if I didn't love the flowers I think I'd have been lost on the leaves alone! It's in bark, although it looks desperate for a repot, and I can't decide whether to chance it or leave it alone! It looks pretty happy!
I think she'll love it!

As we drove there I thought that I might get a nice NoID Phal if they had...So on Monday night I went with Hubby to the supermarket to get groceries. As we drove there I thought that I might get a nice NoID Phal if they had one. I've not had a new orchid for a couple of months after all.
Well there were two minis I really liked. One yellow and one a dark purple (the purple is darker than the pic shows).
I asked Hubby whether "I could put them close together so he wouldn't notice there were two" :coverlaugh: He smiled indulgently and I said "at least I've eliminated one of the three I first saw"... but after picking up that third one to show him I found I couldn't put it down again. (He says he's sure orchids have sticky pots:biggrin:)
Don't know why I had ever put this one back. The more I look at it the more I love the really really dark center against the white.
So then there were three in my trolly... out of five that had been on the shelf. Good job the other two were the same as each other and the same as one I already had. :coverlaugh:
Anyway we moved on and I was looking at cucumbers when hubby said "you've not looked up yet". I looked up and the top of the veg display was full of large Phals at half price (not sure they are ever at full price but for £5 for a nice looking Phal I don't care). I was not going to get one of those... after all there were already three minis in my basket, but this one caught my eye.
So I ended up with four!
The minis were like the last one I bought, in very very tightly packed moss with an inner plastic sleave inside the pot. The previous one I had repotted in bark but I've had trouble with the buds blasting, so these I have taken out and repotted in the same moss they came in but with only about half the amount. I will probably put them in bark after the flowers are gone but I hope that by doing this I will not shock the plant too much with such a drastic change.
Of course they may blast anyway as my house is quite cold just now. But I'm enjoying them just now.:biggrin:

Have managed to get a few new roots on this phal after very close brush with death. No roots for 4 months. Just sitting on bark with touch of moss placed on top of cupboard above oven for warmth and humidity (from cooking!!). Light spray every day and in small tray with rocks topped with a little water when dry.
So, where to from now. Any ideas? Should just keep letting them grow before trying to pot them up i.e. have bark up to the roots? Should I cut the leaves off (or part of) as they remain wrinkled...the initial sign that something was wrong? Will these leaves fatten up once the roots can get water to them?

This is for all you phal experts out there. Does the speed of flower spike growth vary or differ among species/hybrids/noid phals? I have a noid which started to spike at the beginning of Sept and is already forming buds, while my Mini Mark 'Holm' and Penang Girl started to form spikes at the beginning of October and the spikes are barely an inch high. All three of these plants are grown together and are treated the same. I still consider myself a 'newbie' at growing orchids and I was just looking for some insight.

Mon, 19 Oct 2009 17:59:47 GMTI've been asked to look at a phal. because the owner could not get it to re-bloom. It is healthy although in the original sphagnum it was bought with, but that doesn't look too bad.
The flower spike was cut off above the node closest to the plant and a leaf is growing out of that node.
Is all lost or if I cut off the stem at the base might it bloom again?
If there is a chance I'll repot it for her and nurse it a while but I have neither time, space or patience to work on a lost cause (especially when it is not mine.)

She's great with all kinds of house plants so I've no idea how she's resisted an orchid for so long. I mean they literally leap into my basket at the supermarket!
So I bought her this one. She goes into hospital on Monday so I thought it would cheer her up.
It's got a second spike that isn't quite ready to bloom and some great looking silvery roots with green root tips so I think it'll do well for her... everything crossed!

I had 2 phals with a couple of leaves each and no roots. Nothing, just a stub. I sprayed it with SuperThrive and applied cinnamon. I took a netted pot and put very little moss in the bottom then packing peanuts on top. I took this netted pot and placed it into a clear slotted pot. Put my rootless phal in the middle. Tried to nestle it into the peanuts for support. Placed it on a tray and then put a zip lock back over it. Every day I misted the peanuts with water (sometimes with Superthrive and sometimes with Fertilizer). 2 months later I now have some roots. I was super suprised and excited.

But ok leaves yellowed in center of them down by the base clear line from water marks, one of my paphs are also a little soggyish. I have put them under fans and light, now i have moved them to an area with more sun and fan still. My question is with very limited amout of wetness are they all still gonna die? I would take pics but u cant really see too much on them as it is a small amount but the still look soggy. And it has been about 3-4 days of this! So yeah sorry if i get confusing!

My friend, Mike is an avid orchid grower/enthusiast. His collection is fantastic, so when I showed him these pics of one of my Phals. and he was impressed :biggrin:, I got a big kick out of it and thought it was worthy of sharing with everyone here. This started out with 3 (relatively) small leaves, in bud when I bought it last year. Its' since grown 4 basal's and 6 aerial keikis, one of which is now growing separately and will probably spike this winter.
I experimented this summer with KeikiPro and have had phenomenal, new growth, lots of keikis but this one remained untouched by the solution.
I love all the alliances, grow as many different ones as I can with the limited conditions I'm able to currently provide but, it wouldn't matter what conditions I have...I always keep coming back to the Phals. I just love them.

I put some cin powder on the parts that didnt look good. i think the fertilizer consistancy was too strong even thou i followed directions. I think she got fertilizer burn.? I cleaned her up again and the other leaf. pieced some styofoam and used a bit of moss and put them in my bathroom so hopefully this works. and i did rinse the powdered rooting hormone off as well and will not use it! I hope she will root. I saw on my other post a suggestion of pumice powder dont know where to purchase it locally not online so can not use this , mayb ill try the willow idea. I will post pix when i can.

I have done this with one, and am having success (it has put out a new shoot from it's original stem, waiting to see if it flowers).
But, I have several phalaenopsis that have had their original flowering stems completely die. Will this plant produce new stems and ever flower again, or is it doomed to a flowerless life? And is there anything I can do to help it?

I couple of years ago it develeped a keiki from the base just above the roots(basil keiki?) I removed it & it is doing fine. This year both of them developed a keiki from the end of what I thought would be a flower stem, now more leaves are forming on another flower stem(on the left of the photo and 2 branches have formed and appear to be flowers. My question is this just something that occurs periodically or am I maybe doing something that is stressing the plant & causing this behavior? They were both highly prolific with their first blooms this year & produced multiple stems, they stayed green so I left them thinking they may yeild more flowers. They are kept outside in east central Fl. in a shady spot & the main plant (and the keikis) have leaves with nice color and sheen. Thanks for your help.

I am in the process of repotting her because the moss was i think moldy.
Well after cutting all the bad roots.. she has only 4 barely there good short roots!! yikes!!
I'm really scared she won't make it!! has really good leaves!! I really dont know how to pot her because her roots are so short .. the longest root is like a thumb finger long. I think ill have to pot her in like the smallest tera cotta pot i can find til she recovers.. wow this blows. the other roots that were good are three which i just trimmed back the mold to expose the green. I put some cinnamon powder as explained by Ray in his document.

The first one is - how often do you guys fertilize your orchids and does it depend on times of year or the rate they are growing etc? As you can probably tell im new to orchids, i have 2 phals which i havnt had all that long. The first one i got was on my birthday a month ago an i got my second about 2 weeks ago and im scared to kill them!! But im definately obsesed with them already!!
My second question is my purple phal which ive had the longest looks healthy but the roots are worrying me a little, its in a clear pot so i can see them and there doesnt seem to be very many roots, a few are black and look unhealthy but it worries me that they arnt very much and are all over one side of the pot. My second phal has loads of really healthy roots and this orchid doesnt worry me at all. Hope u cam help.
Also quickly from what i have read my purple isnt all that old but my white on is older because of the amount of leaves and blooms is that right?

I bought too many 'chids in August so I've been resisting all through September. Finally couldn't resit any longer.:blushing:
The great thing was that as far as I can tell the ONLY reason it was discounted was that it had a 'Display Until 18th September' label on it. It was not showing any visible signs of being 'past it's best'. :biggrin:
The flowers are similar looking to the mini NoID Phal my parents bought for my husband and I for our aniversary last month. This one is white rather than yellow on the outside of the flowers though.
I repotted it as soon as I got home as it was very very very tightly packed in moss inside a strange polythene 'pot' which did not appear to be letting any air in to the roots.:evil:

Mon, 21 Sep 2009 15:59:43 GMTAfter two long years of nursing a Dtps Siam Treasure, it has finally thrown it's first spike. The spike is about 3" long and is going off at a 45-degree angle.
My question is ... should I try to stake the spike upright or should the spike be more pendant? I'm thinking it might just be "personal preference" but would like to keep with the plant's natural tendencies. I've grown plenty of phals, but nothing with Doritis in them.
I looked up the parents and they are:
Phal lowii X Doritis pulcherrima

This Texas Jewel seems to be much more free blooming and easier to grown than the others I have. I have 3 spikes this year. Might have been better if it had actually been repotted.

I-Hsin Ice Coke, Dtps. Rong Guan Mary, and Phal. philippinensis. Philippinensis is in another thread in the Species forum. I was so thrilled when I unearthed these magnificently grown plants from Orchidaceae, Inc.!! :biggrin: All of them are several inches bigger across than what was listed, and they are all super healthy with amazing roots and leaves. The two Dtps. are also in spike!! I'm going to have flowers to comfort me in the harsh eastern Washington winter! (although I do hope that some of my other orchids will bloom this winter or spring too. :blushing:)
The last picture is of Phal. Sogo Yuukidian 'V3' which I was contemplating buying from the same source, but Naoki was so extremely kind enough to send me hers (you thought you might kill it if you didn't get rid of it, but I still appreciate that you went to the trouble and expense of mailing it to me!)

I received an email from a vendor I signed up with about a phalaenopsis special. Any 3 phals for $50, including shipping in pot. I've got 2 picked out already: Dtps Rong Guan Mary and Dtps I-Hsin Ice Coke 'KH7155'.
I'm trying to decide whether to add Phal. Sogo Yukidian 'V3' or not. I already have a white phal NOID with 5-6 inch flowers, but it never seems to hold more than 4 or 5 flowers. If it makes more buds, they just abort. I've had it for almost 4 years now, the first year it didn't bloom because my brother broke the spike, and so it's now forming it's second spike since I got it (it bloomed twice on one spike, but I cut that one off last year to see if I would get more blooms on a new spike).
It does look very similar to Sogo Yukidian, but I'm wondering if it will ever produce near as many flowers. Would it be worth getting the Sogo Yukidian?
Just FYI: As alternates, I'm also looking at Phal. mannii, Phal. philippinensis, and Dtps. I-Hsin Picture "#23'

I had to repot a NOID today. I was given it as a leaving gift from work ( "she likes orchids, let's buy her a pretty one") and after a couple of weeks sitting happily, I noticed this morning that there were white mites crawling over her roots. So, necessity rather than plan meant that repotting was the answer. Incidentally, she was in a HUGE pot for quite a little plant, so that one is fixed. :) Thank goodness the roots were in OK shape- not great, but far from the disaster I began to imagine.
I did keep the flowering spike on though, and there is another little one which has popped up in the past couple of days, but do you have any ideas about how to try and preserve them? I am prepared for them all to take a bit of a beating, but if there is something I could do, please do let me know!

PS on a related topic, this is a very interesting NOID Phal- complete with only 3 flat back petals, and 2 frilly ones around the centre- makes me think there is something more interesting than the standard phal hybrid there. I would post a pic if I could find my camera cable to upload one...

I have about twenty Phals in my collection. I have noticed lately that I am getting good strong roots that develop either just above the potting medium or out of one of the side holes in an "orchid pot". These roots look strong and thick and green. After a few weeks, they usually turn gray and then eventually shrivel up. Am I doing something wrong? The RH is always above 50% and closer to 60% usually. I am underwatering? Should I try to cover these roots up with sphag? Please help.

How are you all? My name is Dan and i'm comparatively new to the world of Phalaenopsis culture - although not new to Orchids in general. I have been growing Sarcochilus spp here in Australia since a young age. Sadly over time my collections has dwindled and i made the mistake of purchasing a Phalaenopsis spp a few months ago. Needless to say i'm now looking at importing species from Thailand etc and breeding my own (I'm a microbiologist by trade so do all my own flasking etc - i really enjoy it). In any case i have a hybrid, i'm not sure of it's name, and it has developed some clearing on some of its leaves, the veins are showing through and it almost looks like it's being dissolved from the inside. There are no mites or anything on the leaves, no fungus, any ideas what it might be and how to treat it? I've attached a picture for you to see what i mean...
Any thoughts?

My question is: is the plant now doomed? Could this be crown rot? Can it recover from the top leaf dying? By the way, the roots are fine and the other leaves are apparently fine too.

All these pics (except for the first 2 and last one) were all produced with the help of KeikiPro solution. The first 2 pics are P. Be Tris and grew naturally without any help from the solution (equestris are prone to keikis) and the 2 smaller ones are both growing double keikis. The last photo was a tiny keiki already growing when I bought the plant last January, now separated from momma which, is now growing 2 more keikis!
I know this may bore a lot of you but this has been my growing hightlight this summer and I just don't feel like curbing my enthusiasm!:biggrin: :biggrin:

They had a whole shelf full of them and I sooooo wanted one. But hubby and I were on a very tight buget and I resited.:(
Today I went in there and spotted that they had a few left on the discount table. This one had just one flower left, a new leaf starting to grow, and actively growing root tips visible and was only £5. I snapped it up. :biggrin:
I've just been looking at Anthura Gold online though and none of the pictures look anything like this. They are all more of a plain yellow. (Mine has deeper colour than the pic below seems to show, it looks more washed out in the pic than it really is).
I notice on the website of Anthura that they list Baldans Kaleidoscope and I think this looks far more like it than Anthura Gold.
So I guess it's a NoID as it certainly isn't Anthura Gold:evil: But I don't really mind, it's close enough to Baldans Kaleidoscope for me, even it it's not really that.:biggrin:

so they are pretty, they are healthy, lots of nice green roots in the clear plastic pots, inside the terra cotta cache pots... need to be repotted to bigger pots tho..should I wait til they are finished blooming? also..they are blooming now, does this mean that they are and will continue to be summer bloomers?

Tue, 28 Jul 2009 16:58:42 GMTI have a phal that I've had for a few months now. It has been blooming very nicely. However, all the roots seem to have dried up and/or turned black. There seems to be absolutely no living root system, it is almost just resting on top of the medium and dead roots. Otherwise though, it is doing great - it has two new buds about to bloom, and it is growing a new leaf.
Is there anything I can or should do to encourage new root growth?

By the time I notice them, they're easily recognizable, already fully formed, tiny little plants. The growths in these pics (Phal Be Tris) have me stumped, not quite sure if they're sub-spikes or keikis?????? I think I'm seeing what looks like a root forming at the base on one of these but it just may be wishful thinking.

Thu, 16 Jul 2009 01:27:38 GMThi everyone...I've been reading this bb off and on a few years...I'm not a total novice to orchids...while at university, I became involved in a local orchid group..older folks with vast amounts of knowledge that they gladly shared... I was kind of their new generation and I learned so much...then after university I moved on to life and got away from it...now, 25 years later I'd like to get back into it.
Altho I like all orchids, I've always been really drawn to the phalaenopsis...so I've been looking around, and to my surprise most phals these days seem to multi and vibrant coloured flowers with a lot of Doritaenopsis hybrids..smaller flowers, smaller plants...that wasn't so much a thing when I got interested...it's nice to see them...
however..I'm looking for the big "old-fashioned', I guess, whites and pinks and red-coloured lips and pink/white stripes...I'm going to try the new colours, but some of these large flowered "old school" phals is what I'd like to find...is anyone still doing them, can anyone point me in a general direction for finding them.?

Wed, 08 Jul 2009 20:50:26 GMTSo I've got this plan that my next orchid purchases will be properly identified orchids... except those NOID's in the supermarket keep jumping in to my basket... it's not my fault really it isn't :rofl:
So I went grocery shopping with Hubby last night and the shop usually has 3-4 overpriced NOIDS at a time. But this time it had three large, double height, double sideded movable shelf units FULL of Phals right in the doorway, AND they were all marked as half price including an outer ceramic pot (as well as an inner clear plastic pot.)
Of course seeing as they were half the price this shop usually charges, I had to get two, well didn't I. :coverlaugh:
Hubby smilled indulgently and said I could have them under his new plan to buy me orchids rather than cut flowers. :biggrin:
So the first one is a deep velvety purple, a really rich and deep colour. I could not really capture it right in these :photo: The real colour is like this, but MORE... more purple, more rich, more deep, more velvety.
The other is the colours I've wanted for a while. My cousin got married arround 10 years ago and it's only when I've looked back at the photos in the last few months that I noticed her bouquet was of Phal flowers, as were the flowers on the cake (I didn't know orchids from daisies in those days). Well I've been looking for similar colour flowers since then and when we were in the shop last night I described to Hubby what I was looking for... and he said 'you mean like this one'.:biggrin:
It's great at home just now, because I have these two, two other Phals which are reblooming and a Miltoniopsis in bloom :biggrin:

That's three new orchids in the past week! I didn't believe you all when you said orchids were addicting, but apparently we've been sucked in. At least my husband seems to be interested in it as well. He blamed it on me, but he's the one who went over to the orchid section and started pulling plants out! Anyway, I thought I'd post a couple of pictures of our new additions.
I have a couple of questions as well:
One of the plants has several spikes off of the same main spike, a couple of which have no more blooms. Should I cut these off or wait until it finishes blooming and cut the entire spike off at once? Also, how do you end up with several branches off the same spike? Is there something I can do to encourage this in the future?
Also, another has two different spikes at the same time. Does this happen often? Is there a way to encourage this?
Sorry for the long message! I'm such a newbie and really want to learn from all of your experience. You've all been so helpful so far!

That's how I ended up with this noid Phal. I don't like noid hybrids. I'm not into Phals, especially large flowered hybrids (species and miniature hybrids are okay), nor do I really have room for it. It is beautiful, though, and I'll enjoy the flowers until I figure out what to do with it.

There are two plants in the same pot and both were looking bad. As soon as I noticed it I put them in a safe place, low light and allowed it to dry out. They already had spikes but I left it along and just watered and fertilized it as I normally would. They both seemed to have crown rot. The large one soon developed a spike coming from the top with one leaf. I was told that it is a death spike and the plant was trying to save it self by putting out new flowers for pollination. We it never flower again but I did recently noticed 4 kekei's growing from it. The other seemed have recover and it is growing new leaves as normal, just looks beat up. I thought this to be a interesting process and wanted to share my observation. I'll try and find the original picture.

I have now had 3 phals come close to death because I've over watered them even though I only water once a week. Here is a picture of the one I unpotted today. I had noticed that it had leaves that turned to jelly and I finally unpotted it and now it has no roots at all. So I'm going to view this as an opportunity to try spag in a bag Sphag-n-Bag . Tonight I put it in the water solution with rooting hormone (I'm using Green Light Rooting Hormone) and then tomorrow I'm going to put it in the bag. I'll update the post as I make progress.

While the blooms were still pristine, the spike began growing and now I've got 5 more flowers (one yet still to open) but they're all mutations, one less severe but the other 4 look like this one (pics 3 & 4), a big departure from what they originally looked like. I've seen similar to this happen on second bloomings but never to this extreme. I'm so fascinated by it that I actually like my little martian blooms. :biggrin:
Any thoughts to share about what's going on with these? And yes, I use SuperThrive.:hmm

I got this at Ikea... I couldn't help myself, they were 2 for $12.99... but the roots were a MESS. Broken, rotting, randomly severed. Why would you even bother growing an orchid if you're going to do that to it? It seems insane to me.
Anyway, I want to see if I can rescue this one and it's buddy (which came in the same pot but was not flowering). I'm sure the flowers will drop soon because the plant was in such bad condition, but I'd like to pin down what it is before that happens -- just on the off chance I am able to resurrect it.
The petals are light lemon yellow, definitely not that light green color you see on a lot of orchids. I couldn't get a good close-up that was in focus, but I think the colors are pretty true.

This is Phal. Taisuco Date. My Mom bought it for me on a recent trip to Lowe's in Lake Wales, FL; she knew I had been wanting a yellow Harlequin type. But, sadly it blew over the day I got it and both spikes were broken (the plant was uninjured). The blooms only kept about a week in vase in the house so all I have is this picture until it blooms again next year (I am hoping it will bloom again sooner). But, anyway I thought I would post it for you all to enjoy.

Mon, 25 May 2009 22:42:08 GMTHello, I'm new to Orchid Board. I have this very pretty phal, my first orchid, which I nursed back to health after someone sat on it (!!!) a few months ago.
It has been doing really great, and has 9 flowers now. However, the back 2 flowers on one of the stems have begun to wilt. I don't over water it, as it is in a glass pot and doesn't have proper drainage. It started to grow new stems in this pot unexpectedly so that's why I didn't transplant it into a more suitable pot yet.
It has been in flower for about 2 weeks, so I thought it would be premature for the flowers to start wilting. What does everyone think?
It has thrived in my sunny south/southeast facing window, but perhaps too much sun? Maybe the back flowers are getting shielded by the other flowers? I included pictures, lemme know.

This is a new experience for me so hope someone could help. These are the only ones affected although all my orchids are looked after in identical ways...
Two leaves have already gone completely, yellowed and fallen off, but what ever is going on seems to be working its way up the plant, oldest leaf first... I get leaf drop happens with age, but even to me this seems excessive and there is no sign of new growth to replace what's going.
The orchid with the white flowers and yellow lip, is branching left right and center so thought perhaps it was under stress, but the other affected plant has no buds/spikes in development at all. Very strange...

The photos are adjusted to as close as I can get them but the actual color is probably more red.

This one aint vigorous as the last one i've got from the mall but I couldnt believe my eye when i saw flowers :lol:
Half of the buds are open now and 4 flowers have 2 lips and one has 3 lips. Now as i know peloric is the plant, supposed to make asymmetric flower, that makes symmetric ones instead. This is kinda mixed? What should i expect from it?

Dont know what I did wrong back then but it was several years ago and the pot stayed outside for a long while and then my parents grabbed the pot for some of their plants and before they potted anything noticed growth and left it to emerge(see Photo) now I would love to know what to do with it to keep it healty this time, do I pull those husk like things back? Can I repot the small green growth towards the bottom, should I trim that stalk at the top? (see photos) I recieved anouther for mothers day which is healthy right now and hopefully I can keep it that way :) ANY suggestions would be awesome!!

I have a baby Phal with some issues. When I received it, there were two leaves (~2.5" in length). Color seemed fine, and everything was dandy.
In December, a new leaf started popping through. A couple weeks later, los gatos got frisky with the plant one night and it ended up in the next room, out of its pot, completely bare root.
Two weeks later, one of the old leaves was gone, and the new leaf stopped growing.
3 or 4 weeks ago another leaf started pushing through. As you can see in the picture, another of the old leaves has since yellowed, and today came off.
Thoughts on my care-taking shortcomings would be most appreciated. Pictures below provide some visual distractions.

Sat, 09 May 2009 01:11:22 GMTI have a keiki that is in desperate need of you guys. This is a keiki that grew from a plant that I lovingly gave crown rot. It's a beautiful white with dark purple spots flower and I really want to be able to save this keiki. PLEASE HELP :bowing
After growing 2 leaves and starting another one, I noticed that the older leaf is starting to wrinkle. I know that this is normal on older plants, but feel like this leaf was too short lived to be doing this now. The keiki doesn't really have any roots of it's own, just 2 little nubbies that aren't growing any bigger. The "mother" crown is dead now, but still has some roots left. I really don't know what to do with her. :(
Any help would be VERY MUCH appreciated!!!

I love the flower shape, the color is so intense and it has some slight darker stripes all over and dots in the center as well. The back of flowers is golden and it's loaded of buds. If this wasn't enough Big flashy rounded leafs and tons of roots definitively convinced me:dance:

I believe this is a cross between Phal with red labellum and Phal...
I believe this is a cross between Phal with red labellum and Phal stuartiana. Seems like stuartiana gene is quite dominant in giving spots near the middle but the resulting cross is also wide thanks to grandiflora gene from the other parent.
Since this is the very first bloom, this plant only gave me 4 flowers which have withered. Look forward for the next bloom as the plant matures. :)
