Den-nobile hybrids are very likely to also include species that don't need a cool-down at all, so they hybrids are even more forgiving of not getting much of a winter rest than Den. nobile itself. And even Den. nobile is not all that fussy.

Wahhh the 2 buds suddenly blasted! 😭 why? It has gotten very cold where I am (outside temps were 0F), but my nobile has been inside in temps no cooler than 65F. Maybe low humidity?

Could it be pest related? I did have one plant that had some thrips so I isolated it. But one of the leaves on this Dendrobium was affected and had the silver trails. I treated it with neem and insecticidal soap and never saw any more bug signs on this plant. The new growths have been unaffected and are growing fine.

It looks like the buds just simply dried up 😣

Sorry about that. Thrips, spider mites and low humidity can do that.

Thanks! Yeah I kinda figured it was a batch of bad luck.... It’s so disheartening, but I guess there’s always next year. If there’s one thing Orchids are really good at, it’s teaching us a lesson in extreme patience haha 😅

Surprise here! I didn’t even get to start cool treatment before 4 buds started growing. Only 1 survived. I didn’t give this guy any cold treatment (it was hot summer) so I have no idea how I got flowers!

Also it does not look like Dendrobium Sakura ‘hime’ so I’m wondering if I have a mislabeled plant, sigh.... But she is fragrant like hyacinth so I can’t complain!
