Den. Madonna? Male
Default Den. Madonna?

Last thing I thought I would do today was buy a dendrobium orchid. The nursery owner was given this den. by a lady who didn't want it anymore since the one spike died out. So she traded it in. He put it in the greenhouse and got another bulb and spike. Gave me a good deal for plant and it's attached pot so here it now lives.

There was no plant name card for the orchid and what I could find was that it probably is a Den. Madonna. Can anyone verify that?
Thanks!

A phal-type dendrobium, and such a pretty color! You were lucky! But without a label, it will remain a beautiful NOID.

Thank you. I was afraid it might remain a NOID. Was just hoping after I spent some time looking at dendrobium pictures that I found the right one.

Well, Madonna looks awfully close, I agree. You know, in your own mind, you can call it anything you like. As long as you're not going to breed or show for judging, who cares?

So true!
I fell for it due to the deep rich red color of the flower. I had a really nice Oncidium in my hand when I saw the den. but one plant a day is my self imposed limit.
That's one more than the limit my wife has imposed on me!, LOL!

The nursery guy mass produces small succulents and I plan to go back next week for some for my wife's terracotta planter. He said he would still have some of the same Oncidiums waiting for me then.
