Default Dendrobium GREEN ELF

A hybrid of Section Latouria, between D. convolutum x D. alexandrae, D. Green Elf is a consitent early Winter flowerer for me. The 4-5cm flowers are a nice lime green with dark purple spots and a purple over green lip. I detect no fragrance. P-bulbs are about 12-15cm tall on a compact plant, blooms young and likes constant moisture with good light. Does handle some sun, but be carefull not to burn the dark green leaves, if placed near the window. Like many Latourias, once mature you may get flowers at any season, but mainly in Winter.

Pretty. I can see both Latouria and convolutum in it. My convolutum is much rounder and less refined, probably less compact also.

Yeah, from what I understand, D. convolutum is more robust, although both of the species involved are generally bigger than my plants (I have three). They may well get larger in a few years. I expect 20-30cms tall when fully mature, but who knows. Wish I could find D. convolutum here. Seems to be rather rare, at the moment.

I have one that is pretty good sized. The newest cane is about 12-15". It's always in bloom though. Not the prettiest.

I don't know, Dolly, I think its pretty wonderful! I'm searching for this and D. engae for my collection and hybridizing. I find the Latouria great for houseplants. Easier than the 'nobile' type Dendrobium, imo.

Yes, I like Latouria too. This was a bag baby and it likes me more than I like it, apparently. An easy grower for sure.

Love the Latourias! I have a Green Flash, which is 75% convolutum, 25% atroviolaceum which hasn't bloomed yet. Waiting eagerly for this plant to mature! I hope it is as nice as yours.
