I love this one Steve! I like the strange and different ones too. That's a color combo that you don't see that often and that's whats makes it even more special. I also think it would make a great project #6 plant. I would LOVE to have it!

Wow, seems like everyone really likes the atroviolaceum for the next project. Its good because you can get regular sizes and miniature sizes as well. Since I have it already and its blooming, does that mean I have to get another one that is NBS if I were to participate? Just curious. Ive never done a project.

Steve - not to worry - participants will create lists of many orchids which will be, through process of elimination, whittled down to, if I can remember correctly, about 10 to vote from .. At this point, we are a long way off from determining which orchid will be chosen but it seems Den. atroviolaceum is a starting favorite

That's an awesome plant. I like the flowers of latouriates a lot as well, and hopefully, I'll get some in my collection.

It sure is pretty, Steve. A good reason to grow the species!
These plants also bloom repeatedly from the same point, so the older, leafless canes can flower, too.
