Default newbie question

Thank you so much for your help with my previous question.

I came back now with another one (bacterial infections?) related to a beautiful NOID dark coloured dendrobium. The supermarket sells this flower with 2 dark spots on the stems. It seems to be drying out now the canes are starting to wrinkle but it has been enclosed in plastic.

If the canes have a bacterial infection, can the plant be saved? How (besides posting a pic)?

Sorry for wasting your time with such a newbie question. This den phal was so beautiful that I thought I could not resist asking you.

Is the black area's you mentioned moving? Meaning do you notice it is spreading over time? If it isn't spreading it might just be mildew from being in plastic and water being trapped for long periods of time against the canes. I've seen this a few times at stores where they package the orchids in fancy wrappers that don't allow the plant to "breath".
Without a pic though I am not really sure what it might be.

You were right about the black area - it wasn't a fungus infection it was just mildew. Thank you so much!! I am now the very happy owner of a Den Phal Pinocchio.

Big hug!

Out of curiousity, what supermarket did you buy it at? My local Carrefour stocks orchids regularly, but it's always phals! The trouble is also getting them when they arrive on the shelves. They overwater everything over there.
