Default Weird year for D. speciosum

Curious as to whether any of my fellow speciosum growers have encountered a delay in this years growths on their plants as well? I'd usually be on my second set of growths for the year, but I'm just seeing emergence on the first vegetative growth of the season... Culture has been more or less the same this year, barring the fact that I moved into a much larger gh... Anybody here out West experiencing delays as well?

I live in Los Angeles area, I have several verities of Speciosum, mine seem to be growing normally, except one did send out two spikes about two months after it had flowered, that was a first in all my years growing them.

Even here in its native habitat, it various tremendously depending on seasonal conditions - Australia has a harsh and variable climate and native orchids adapt accordingly. Sometimes you'll get out of season growth, early flowering, heavy flowering or no flowering depending on rainfall and temperature.

Mine are also just beginning to have new growths, although they bloomed well last spring. My hybrids did not flower well, I had lot of bud blast due to the drought and warm winter.

Neither my Aussie species nor most of the hybrids thereof flowered well for me, kingianum excepted. It's been a wierd year for all of them, almost as though they are just now waking up...on the flip side, most of my speciosums are throwing multiple new growths; usually they make a single growth early in the spring and are starting another round of growth about this time... Time will tell I guess.
