Dendrobium hancockii
Got this at a local county plant fair this past weekend. I was going only to pick up some supplies that I needed to complete my spring re-potting. Needless to say I did not make it out of there before also buying 3 orchids, this is one of them, the bamboo shape of this orchid is what sold me on the purchase, enjoy!

I repotted this one a few weeks ago and placed it in an area that I thought it would do well in, I ended up moving it a few days after and now every green leaf on this has fallen off. I am trying to figure out if putting it into the area I did or when I was trying to get all the old, and I mean old, media off that I might have been the cause of the damage. It still looks alive so I am hoping it will recover.

The roots of this orchid plant is fine and sensitive. It is sulking on you. It is best not to water it for a week when you repot so the roots get accustomed to the new media. This likes bright sun and warmth.....good air around it and lots of humidity.

Thanks RosieC! Unfortunately I ended up killing this one not sure what I did wrong, have since gotten another smaller one but hope I run into the nursery at the upcoming orchid show season where I got this one as it was such a healthy large plant and would not mind getting another one, I have seen pictures of fully mature ones and that is what I want to do. |
