Dendrobium victoriae reginae
Another dendro I bought at the show. I don't know much about it's culture, so now I'll have to find some info about her culture.

They. Are. Stunning! I only laid my eyes on this one when I scrolled through the calendar pictures, but I definitely want one of these. I love the color! Ok, so I'm in a blueish/purplish phase at the moment, but still...beautiful.

Nice! No winter rest. Keep potting media evenly moist. Lower light, tho can take more light in winter.

Sonya is right....also:this orchid is endemic to the Philippines which is an equatorial area with only two seasons: hot/dry and wet/monsoon rains ....the height of winter to us is also the first sign of summer weather to them hence the brighter the light....

 but I have read someplaces that it's temperature tolerant.  Mine has been fine with heat spells here, shaded by noon. Of course it's always much cooler at night here. |

@whiterabbit, I think if you are in north cal you will do just fine. Heat spells there usually last about a week. If it was in FL where it is hot months on end then it is a different story.
I grew this once in Coastal San Diego. That plant bloomed twice a year. When it got to the 90s I misted.

There's also the 30-35 (sometimes even 40!) degree difference between the daytime high and overnight low in summer, so even during blistering daytime temps, it's still cool at night here. So, while I have read they are warmth tolerant, I only have my own experience to go by. |
