A Dendrobium moschatum var. coloratum for your enjoyment
I'm not a dendrobium person at all. I tried dendrobiums but for some reason I never really got into them. This is, along with another species, is the exception. I absolutely love the delicate blooms, and the colors are to die for.
I bought this from Featherstone Orchids in May 2011. I was going to cut off the old, old canes (which seem dead to me)(not pictured) but as I was inspecting the plant (as I routinely do) I noticed that tiny little keikis are forming on the old canes. Can you imagine this with keikis---Be still my heart!
These are two new growths. The buds form and bloom at an impressively fast rate. Unfortunately, the blooms don't last very long, but I suppose the beauty of them makes up for that.
This is a picture of the back of the blooms. Notice the peachy color.
The furry pouch.....
