Not sure what those are, I just noticed something growing out of the bracteosum's old canes.

They look like new canes/kieki's, but tough to say as I'm not the Den expert. But, that would be my guess

From my recollection (I killed my last plant of this species about 2 years ago) the buds look like that when they're starting. In any case, you should be able to tell soon; a keiki will sort of 'flare out' into leaves as it grows, while the tip of a spike will segregate into multiple points that are the individual buds. What color form is yours?

I have no clue! I've had this one since last summer and it never flowered for me. Also could be that the nursery had name tag wrong as it happened before.

Is it common for those to give keikis like that? I must have about 4 of those

Given what looks to be like really good roots in the photo, and if the plant looks pretty healthy otherwise, nathaniel my be right about the blooms. Take another pic in a few days and let us take a peak and see what's going on.

That was a complete surprise to me. I will wait and post more pics as it gets bigger.

Thanks! Sandra

I think you have the start of some flowers. Congratulations.

Oh for real? I didn't know flowers would grow from 'dead' canes. My other plump canes with leaves dont have those little growths

Mine never keiki'ed at all, and they usually bloomed from the leafless canes. A lot of Den species are like that, they tend not to bloom on a growth until it's lost its leaves.
