The Den. anosmum var. Huttonii that is circulating in Hawaii has white flowers with dark blue coloration in the throat. The plant was imported from the Philippines many, many years ago. Hybrids made with 'Huttonii' have beautiful flowers with very dark throats. Here is a photo of a 'Huttonii' that I took in April 2007. I was very fortunate to obtain a keiki from this plant.

WOW!! What a fantastic set of blooms!

Thanks for the heads up on the name. I'm the assistant here, and Brian just confirmed that these came in with the incorrect name.

Happy growing!

What a beauty!
Although we have many varieties of this species here, I have never seen this before.

Fortunately, this plant has been selfed and seedlings are now more readily available. They are being tagged as "Blue Lip" although really it is not the lip that is blue; it's the throat. It is a much sought after plant by hobbyists in Hawaii. As I mentioned earlier, breeders are using the 'Huttonii' to impart a darker color in the throat of the anosmums.

It is the blooming season for Den. anosmum in Hawaii. Here is a selfing of 'Huttonii'.
