Thanks Becca, just straight moss? Loosly packed? The tricky thing it seems, about growing orchids is getting the feeling for which medium for which type. I have a real stiff upright kind of Dendrobium (picture of it in my album & flower of it as my Avatar) That one it feels like it would have to have some lava rock or really big cunks of something to hold it upright. Maybe the thinner, more gangly dangly types are best in moss and hanging baskets, would you say?

Thanks Terri, I did call him on Friday and he said he'd be there Monday. I am so new to orchids, I just found Clackamas Orchids online last week, so I hadn't heard about the 'going out of business' part. He said there are college finals next week and that he's a student, so I assume he's a fairly young person. Have you been there? or did he mail yours? I'll look that Phaleanopsis up to see if I can find a picture of the blooms.

Rob came to our orchid show year before last. He always brought nice plants. He didn't come last year. I think that's when I heard he was going out of business. Could be he has reconsidered or downsized since then. Funny his website says he's closed on Mondays.

Here's a pic of the Phal. mannii I bought from him. He always had a nice selection of species.

Thanks for the Picture Terri, it's a different kind of Phal. than the standard roundish petaled ones, like I have.

The person I am going to see is David, and he has a final on Tuesday, so that's why he suggested Monday. Are you familiar with the orchid's of Marie Riopelle? Apparently she passed away last year and these are what is left of her collection. I noticed she wrote the Miltonia section in the little orchid booklet I got with my 'Oregon Orchid Society' Membership this year, and the cover picture was one of hers. I think maybe Miltonia was one of her specialties.
