Dendrobium cuthbertsonii is one of my favorites also and it has many color forms. The flowers are among the longest lasting of any in the genus, and in fact the plants can bloom themselves to death. They are quite sensitive to any chemicals, and if you get scale or mealybug problems the plants will succumb. They are pretty easy to grow, however, and quickly get to nice sizeable clumps.

Very cute...huge flower in relation to plant size and very interesting foliage to boot!

Ah, yes! One of my favorites. I may have to pick up a couple this spring once the new Orchidarium is installed.

I don't do most Dendros or large, "floofy orchids". For me it's minis (like Angraecoides), Masdies, Paphs, and others that crept in somewhere along the line. See my orchid list for complete collection (usually not current.)

No scent. Actually it had to be red with yellow lip, but it is pink with orange lip. Hope it will survive our hot winter.

I will make few more shots later. The side view of the flower is very interesting.

...those leaves are really cool too!
Do they need a chill to bloom?

Thanks!

Yes. They originate from mountain region of New Guinea. They don't like heat and need intermediate - cool temperatures, ideally with 10 degrees difference between day and night temperatures.
