Default Den tetragonum..one very cool little plant!

I got this Den tetragonum as a travelling buddy for our Project 2 plant a few months ago. I couldn't seem to find it's happy place for a while but I found it now

The second bloom opened within 30 minutes of the first one!

Hi Sue, I found this thread while searching for some more info on Den. tetragonum.... Can you give some more detils of where was this plant happiest?

Any details about growth/rest period/etc. would be very appreciated! Those flowers are gorgeous - I can only hope to make my plant so happy!

This is one of my absolute favorites...it's really different-looking

I finally found it's happy place on the top shelf of the rack directly under one of the skylights in the orchid room. Here, that means it gets pretty bright indirect light for most of the day and a few hours of very high light. It shouldn't be let to totally dry out so not a true winter rest, maybe just a slight reduction from Nov - Mar.

I looked it up in Orchidwiz and the information there varies:

Summer day temps 77 F and nights 60-63 F...mine gets much higher temps both day and night.

Winter day temps 62-68 F and nights 41-47 F...again, much higher in my room.

There is also a variation on suggested lighting. It says some Australian growers prefer 60% shade, some folks give it Phal lighting and still others say high light is the way to go (which is what mine seems to prefer).

What this tells me is that Den tetragonum is a very adaptable little 'chid

It may take some changes and moving it till you find it's happy place but you should have no problem growing it.

You are gonna LOVE it!
