Thanks!
Tom - the canes are about 5" long and the spike is another 3-4" from that...quite small and compact, and it stays that way.

Terri - it's actually part of the section Stachyobium, which I'm not too familiar with at all...just checked it out on iospe and some more well known species (well the only ones I know of at least!) in this section include dend. garettii, dend. microbulbon and dend. peguanum

Dear Calvin,

You will find you plant is called Dendrobium venustum. It was once considered a variety of D. delacourii.

Hope that helps, Eric

Thanks, Eric...I was suspecting venustum, since IOSPE says the smaller variety is delacourii and the one with the longer stem like mine >4" (not sure exactly what stem means though...I'm assuming cane?) is venustum...

however, it then says that delacourii has flowers that are 0.5" which is roughly the size of my flowers, whereas venustum has larger flowers at an inch in size. It's all very confusing!

Yes, the flower is bigger than delacourii. I think mine is bigger than 1" but I am not sure about the measurement now.
