Default I swear I couldn't help myself, Den. Berry Oda...and dogs!

I went to the pharmacy to get my meds, got my groceries for the weekend then it happened again. Those terrible voices in my head!

"Get me out of here! You know he is going to drown me!"

I didn't know exactly where it came from but after I visited several plant shops I found the victim I had to take home. Without having doubts about it, it jumped in my arms and choose itself a decorative pot. It was too scared it would be ran over by one of my cats. So it really needed that pot (whispered it in my ears).

When I paid for the plant and the pot, I said to the lady on the other side of the counter: Only a few hours ago, I said to myself: No other orchids! You are running out of space!

But hey, now I have a cold room from Dendrobium nobile Spring Dream Apollon and a Den. kingianum, why not giving them some company from a desperate Dendrobium Berry Oda* ?

* Den. kingianum x Dendrobium. 'Mini Pearl' (=Dendrobium canaliculatum x Dendrobium bigibbum)

So when I came home I said to the new acquired kid (did I say kid? That is a slip of the tongue! I meant 'chid heh): I should keep you isolated for at least a few weeks, but hey... what about a few friends, because I have only one cold room and in case of emergencies, Admire will jump in my basket tomorrow.

Pictures to follow this weekend :-)

I feel so sorry for you! So you hear those voices too?

Normally it's hard to find orchids with tags in the local shops here, so I made my round and didn't think I would find something I liked.
95% of the orchids in the local shops are Phalaenopsis' NOID. Nothing wrong with them but cool and intermediate growers suit better here. I said to myself not to buy anymore Phal's. at least I try to stick to that agreement.
Tomorrow I'm in a danger zone again as I have to go to a big garden store to get myself some LECA, bark and insect repellent (just in case of...)

Btw, Den. Berry Oda looks a lot like Den. kingianum and smells too.

LOL, it sounds like you are decribing me! I left early for my afterschool job today, and I my bike steered itself straight to the garden center that's on the road I take. Really, I don't know what was wrong with my bike! There was lots of orchids I at, but it was only noid phals, dens, oncs, paphs, catts, cyms and vandas. None had names. But Den kingianum was recognisable, as was a phal that looked like it was Baldans Kaleidoscope. I didn't get anything, since I didn't have any money with me!

(actually, I never go t work with money in my pocket, or else the garden center is way to tempting every day!)

Well, tomorrow is Saturday... I bet the garden center is open again ;-)

You wrote: and my bike steered itself straight to the garden center...

A few years ago my bike steered to the local dog shelter despite the voices in my head that the last thing I needed was a traumatized Belgian Malinois, that showed both dominant and fear aggression.

Half an hour later I called my dad and asked him to come over and see what I've found in the shelter. A Belgian Malinois, really traumatized, lack of socialisation, scared to death . When she saw me she jumped up, licked my face, ignored the shelter workers and only wanted my attention... and only a few days before that I had to euthanize my previous Malinois... this one could have bee her twin sister. They were look-a-likes.
Imagine me crying on the spot, making excuses for my tears to the shelter workers!

If you know how manny problem behavior she had when I took her home, oh boy, was she lucky I didn't know that by then
It's not that I didn't want her if I knew about problem behavior, but she had so many problems that I would have been affraid not be able to deal with it.

Now, almost 5 years later, she is laying next to me on the couch LOL, Best dog ever (OK second best.... nothing can beat my first Malinois, a trained police dog.)

If it's only orchids that you bring home when your bike tries to do his own thing... that's OK with me It could be worse buahahaha.

It's nice to see pics of your dog! In the chat you always write that it's time to walk the dog, but I never knew what she looked like. Mooi hond! How did you end up with a police dog the first time?

And yes, I will probably go to the garden center tomorrow. I have to get stuff for my new guinea pig before he arrives! But I know that I'll look at the orchids too.... They are a bit expensive though at this garden center, so maybe I will go check out the other one on the other side of Wageningen.

I really shouldn't get anymore, because I have to figure out how to get me, my stuff, the guinea pig AND the 30+ orchids back to France for the summer.... in the Thalys!! Maybe I can mail some chids home.

Oh my, I would love to see you on the train with all your stuff! I think I couldn't stop laughing when the cavie starts to wheek every time he hears a plastic bag...
I trained my previous Malinois myself. As long as you can prove good behavior you can get a license for training your own dog. Most people sell them later (to the police or for export to U.S.A.) and start with a new young dog. I kept mine. She was my friend :-) You don't sell friends :-)
Ilja, my current Malinois probably came from some one who wanted to train her but screwed her up instead. Besides her I have a young boerenfox, kind of 'national mutt'. Looks a lot like a rat terrier and weights about 10-11 kg. He is 7 months now.

Beneath a picture where the pup is about 4,5 months old:

Title: I.have.to.clean.you (as in OCD)

Mal looks small in this one, pup looks too large ;-)

Here a starring both of them (a late night show)

We are so off topic now!

Omg, they are too too cute together!! What do you feed that overactive pup, dynamite? Lol. He is so cute, I love those little terrier types! I hope they don't play with your orchids the way they play with the rubber chicken.
And you have a cat too? I think I saw a kitty in the background.

And who says you're hijacking? It's your thread, you write what you want! You might have to create a new thread for the orchid's pics though

No Not hijacking LOL, but to say it's still on topic?
Maybe I should ask a mod to change the title or move the thread.

I do have 2 cats. The black one in the back ground and a brown-ish tabby.
