Default Valentine's Day NOID

Happy Valentine's Day Everybody!!!! Today I received an orchid for V-Day!! Looks like I don't have to go a whole year after all!!!

I have had my eye on this dark purple Den NOID for a couple of weeks now. The color is stunning (pics are true to color). I have some bark soaking right now, so I will be re-potting and doing the usual inspection of it tomorrow. I'm sure that the roots are trashed and will need to be tended carefully, but I couldn't help but want this chid!!

I have attached pictures of the plant, flowers and some troublesome leaves. I am going to treat the plant with listerine tomorrow once I have it out of the sphag it in, trim the dead roots, hopefully, there will be some left!!

I did a general inspection at the store, in front of the flower dept person, because I am not shy about those types of things. The roots I felt were mush! My husband asked me if I could save it and I said of course I can!!!

wow! thats gorgeous Amanda!
I can understand why you had your eye on it - Ilove the color too!
Hope the roots turn out to be in better condition than you are anticipating.

But I love how your attitude is now 'of course' you can save it
I'm sure with your tlc it will do just great!

Enchanting! I would have gotten this one too! For me, saving orchids is relatively easy, it's getting the normal care right so that I can keep them happy after they've recovered that's the problem!

I have a book with a picture very similar to this one, but I left it at home. Something something Rodriguez maybe? Or maybe I've just got Rodriguezia on the brain.
