Default Den. kingianum

I've had this species for 4-5 years. I bought it in blooom and since then it's only thown out kekis. I've been setting it outside at night to give it a temp difference this year in hopes that it will initiate blooming. Any suggestions?

Dend will grow in any temperature, any light and any kind of watering and feeding, but high in N will prevent continuous blooms (never use high N ratio). If you are wanting it to bloom to its fullest potential, its essential you grow in cool temps (min. night autumn/winter below 50F), bring the plant in in Nov when the home is cooler and withhold on your watering until you see buds starting which should be about 8 weeks, give or take. Water normally at that time of sighting and start a fert program after flowers are open. I have a dend that has done nothing but produce keiki's as well, sweet happening but it would be nice to get the dend to bloom, so this blooming season we will see...

I think your doing it right to keep it on the cool side acclimate it back indoors in Nov and see what happens. It's worth the challenge. gl

This is what I do with those type of dens is reduce the watering and quit the fertilization all together. It was a hard lesson to learn but I learned mine from a Den aggregatum. Do not stop watering all together! What Cheryl said about the temps is very im[prtant also Good luck!

Thanks for the tips. I'll cut back on the fert. and reduce the H20.
