I have been passively looking for this plant for a while and i keep finding lack-luster, little plants on ebay and i bid casually and lose since i don't really want some sickly, little seedling.

I looked at the web offerings of my favorite sellers and they were either out or did not have it listed.

I know that often they have plants not listed and i thought some of you might know of any?

I am not ready to start cold calling growers.....yet

I can tell you that some scientists at Cornell University have a corner of their rooftop greenhouse filled with nothing but large, healthy Den stratiotes... A shame I lost contact with them, because they probably would have gladly parted with one. And yes, I know that this message doesn't help you at all!

do you recall the department or even the green house name? i can try to narrow my ven diagrams to those

also, you don't have to at all i can try to start sniffing around with just what you already said.

Actually, now that I go through my photos from back then, it might have been Den antennatum. I was at the department of entomology but don't recall if the greenhouse was on their building or at a neighboring department. No telling if the collection is still there now, it was some years ago.

one of the pluses of having a large family of smart and (often somewhat) lazy people is that they populate halls and labs in many prestigious institutions or have at some point or share lab space with someone who did or at least knows someone in their grant department who did LOL

H&R in Hawaii usually offers seedlings of this, plus many of its hybrids, and many other Dendrobiums.

Good to see you back again!

H&R was were I got mine from. Gorgeous plant. Over 2 feet tall, massive root system, and it was under $20. Then it got too cold and I killed it last year. Hopefully they offer it again this upcoming list, if not, I’ll be checking out Kalapana
