I like this. You win some, you lose some but you don’t really know what you can get away with unless you try it! And I am definitely one of those “what can I get away with” type growers

Hey DC - Just saw this thread and figured I would chime in. I purchased a small finisterrae last year and it is doing great growing outside on my patio. Now whether or not it will ever bloom is something I believe that will take a few years to answer.

Yes! That is the confirmation I was hoping for. Granted you are in a full climate zone above me but still...

I am very hopeful now! Thanks!

Quick update to this thread. I ended up with two of these guys, one from hausermann and one from carter and Holmes.

Both great plants. One went in sh and one in my normal den mix.

As of yesterday I moved them both into sh and brought them inside.

Both put out two new growths and one was very floppy and then i saw some pretty ugly damage to the one’s biggest leaf that I attribute to heat. I hope lol

Don't expect pretty leaves in Cymbidiums.

To grow this best you need to go to the end of the earth.

Not to rain on your parade, but I usually rely on IOSPE for information on species I do not know too well. They show that it grows from 4200 to 6900 ft elevation, and rate it as a cool to cold grower.

Having said that, I have 12-15 of them, and they have to live with the 88-95F temps in NJ.
