New Dendrobium Female
Default New Dendrobium

This is my new Dendrobium. I have one other (a Dendrobium pendulum but that one is also new) but I am still very new to Dendrobium care. This one has canes and the flowers are growing off a very healthy looking cane, the other canes are more wrinkled and a little brownish. It's currently potted in the bark/cork mix that the greenhouse (Orchid Trail) uses. It appears healthy, but like some of the orchids I've gotten from here, it appears to be outgrowing the pot. The roots are all over the place and appear out of control. The plant is very top heavy, that stalk with the flowers is probably 1 1/2 feet tall.

Lovely Nobile! it looks happy in that pot for now but you can always put them in a heavy clay pot to counter balance the tall canes

It's gorgeous. Mine like a snug pot and like to be pot bound, so I don't worry about repotting them unless the mix is really broken down. Main thing is keeping them pretty dry in winter and making sure they never go without water for too long in the summer.
