First post! Been lurking for a while tho...

I recently picked up some noid Den-Phals that were potted in some 3" ceramic pumpkins. No drainage with these pots, looks to be some kind of coconut husk mixture they're planted in. These are the first Dens I've gotten, so a little leery about the pots, but anything I've read about them say they hate getting disturbed. I have some nice 3" plastic pots to move them into, but wondering if I should wait until they're done flowering and be patient with watering. Skewer in media is helpful but I'd like to know that there is good air movement which the current pots do not provide.

Thanks!

I think those no-drainage pots are so bad that a repot is worth the risk. If you do it gently (don't disturb roots any more than necessary), leave the old medium where it's attached to roots and just put into a better pot with better-draining medium such as bark, I don't think the plant will even notice. Having old medium with the new in the same pot will do no harm.

Hey Roberta,

Thanks for the nudge to do what I figured I should do anyway. Moved them over to 3" slotted pots which were almost exactly the same size as the old ones so didn't have to do much. The insides of the ceramic pots were a swampy mess so I'm glad I took care of it. Thanks for the advice!
