Paphiopedilum Tropical Magic Male
Default Paphiopedilum Tropical Magic

Paphiopedilum primulinum x henryanum

I'm pretty sure this is the first time this has decided to bloom for me, so I thought I'd photograph it. The only reason it's still around and the only reason I'd keep it is because it's a small growing Paph. I'm not incredibly fond of the pale flowers and I'm even less impressed with how slow growing and finicky this has been. So, who knows if it'll stick around in my collection for much longer.

Any tips? I'm leaning more towards it's just a genetic runt, rather than any actual deficit in my care and conditions. Especially considering I have lots of success with Paphs in general. I would have thought it would be vigorous and easy to grow like most P. primulinum hybrids.

I'm really not a Paph person. The plant is in semi-hydro, I give it Phalaenopsis conditions, and it grows and blooms. I do agree that it's rather a slow grower as it seems to complete only one growth a year, but then it blooms. Your runt theory could be correct.
