How cold do you mean? Right next to a single-pane window on cold nights? What is the temperature in the rest of the room?

How have you been watering it? How long ago was it last repotted?

This is a primary hybrid between Paph. glaucophyllum (a hot-growing species) and Paph. rothschildianum (a warm- to intermediate- growing species that tolerates cool nights.)

How warm are the days? If it gets a lot warmer by day those kinds of temperatures would be better tolerated than if it doesn't warm up much.

Paphs should not become dry, but neither should they stay soggy wet. Every 10 days might be reasonable, but in a centrally-heated building with low humidity, it might get too dry between waterings.

Many people repot all Paphs every 1-2 years. That's why I asked about that. Medium breaks down much faster when kept moist. Rotting medium leads to airless, rotting much, which can kill roots.

Paph roots look different from other orchids: They are brown and fuzzy when healthy. Look at Peter Lin's post tonight on Paph. purpuratum to see what they look like.

I don't think those temperatures will work for this particular orchid. Maybe people with a lot more Paph expertise than me can respond, but warm-growing orchids tend not to do well through a cold, dark northern winter. Any chance you can put it on a heat pad? They do make heat pads that fit on windowsills. That might help a lot.

I can't tell whether you should water more. Does it dry out between waterings? I mean inside the pot, not just on the surface? If it dries out, yes, you should water more. But if it doesn't dry out, no, you shouldn't water more.
