Default Paphiopedilum violascens

Paphiopedilum violascens - first time blooming this species. I love it !
Got this plant just last year 2016 slipper symposium. Happy to see it bloomed quickly. Mottled foliage.

I'm not a big fan of this section of Paphs, but I do like this species. That's a very chunky flower, and good color contrast. Good job!

Nicely colored example of the species, and not an easy one to grow for most. 2 or 3 small children could take a bath in that pouch.

You forget that I know as much about Paphs as my dog knows. Well, maybe slightly less, he's a pretty bright fella. Spicerianum has a similar coloration, doesn't it.

And the only thing in my pipe is tobacco. THOSE days are long past.

EDIT: To check myself I looked at an old photo of spicerianum. My conclusion? I'm stupid. I wish I HAD been smoking something!

There are several Paph species that share this color palette but I wouldn't have pegged spicerianum as one of them. Still, partial credit given for listing a Paph species, and for spelling. I'd be quite impressed if your dog could match that. What is his user name?

I could never smoke anything without coughing for 20 minutes, but few of our generation didn't indulge somehow.
