Nice looking plant!

I'm so used to s/h pots now that that pot looks quite large to me. Especially if it is all moss. I worry it would be difficult to regulate moisture and not rot the roots by moss staying too wet in the middle.

What size pot is it?

Often orchid owners in dry/hot areas use larger pots because the media drys out too quickly. I have found with my own roth and various others, that you don't want the roots to dry.

5". Only the top inch is moss. And our summers do get quite hot and dry. I am testing soil moisture with the skewer method. If it stays moist too long, I will replace the moss with a bark mixture.

My Rothschild is in an 8" wide pot, three inches deep, three balls of moss around the edge of the pot, stick the plant in the middle and fill to 3" deep with sieved fine bark.

Interesting. In the wild, Paph rothschildianum grows on a steep serpentine cliff in a thin layer of mosses and plant debris.

we find in the main illustration the plants are growing in pots that are over 3" deep, to be sure, but still rather shallow. Also, there is a link to a P. r. in its natural habitat.
