Default Paph micranthum care.

My daughter kind of got me a Paph micranthum. We were looking at orchids and she hit the buy now and we'll we got it.

I live in the mountains and can give it cold Temps but maybe too cold. Our winters are very sunny too. So I thought I could grow this. Has anyone gotten this plant to bloom? If so how ? I can give it might Temps of 50F in the winter time or lower if it is next to the window.

I feel kind of crazy for buying this plant but my daughter was so excited about it haha.

Give it a warm, humid summer and a cool, dryer winter. Read about their natural growing conditions on slipperorchids.info. it sounds like you might have good conditions for these.

Thanks. I did read up on them and thats one reason why I bought it. I just want to see if anyone here grows them. I think I can grow them in my climate but I am going to have to wait. I read they can take 3 years or more to bloom.... Oh well it is small and the leafs look cool.

Good luck with yours!

I have two plants of this species.
I'm not into their flowers much (although I love its hybrids and have many!!!) unless they come out really fine, but love the leaves.

After reading lots of horror stories and success stories, I decided to give them a try knowing I don't really have cold winter conditions for them.
So far, both plants are growing fine throwing roots and leaves.

If yours is a mature plant, it doesn't have to take 3 years to flower.

I have heard someone with lots of these, and some say theirs bloom every year, and some say they flower every other year or even longer interval, hence they have lots of them, so they can enjoy flowers every year that way.

I think you will do good with them since you say you have cold conditions.
Just make sure don't freeze them to death.

50F sounds great!
hope to see it in bloom next spring.

Great info. I have three and I don't think I am doing right by them.
