Default In spike/bud

I thought we could post some pictures of our spikes/buds here, if you're interested.

Here are three of the Paphs I have in bud at the moment:

Paph. venustum:

Paph. callosum var. sublaeve's first bud, which also looks like it could be a double flower (this is unfortunately a stress blooming about to happen, which is why the fans are immature):

Second bud (it looks huge, but it isn't, it's just the fan being ridiculously small):

Paph. cerveranum (my first Paph which has already bloomed once this year), it's apparently a bit tricky, so the probability of it blasting is quite high:

I love the way paph buds look when they hang from the spike, just about to open. They look so elegant. My paphs are still at the 'growing fan' stage so it will be a while. Nice photos!

They make me think of streetlights in jugend style (Art Nouveau in English, apparently). Elegant and organic.

I wish mine could make some fans too, since the major part of my collection consists of baby Paphs with only one fan each.

The buds are coming along fine at the moment:

Cerverenaum:

Callosum var. sublaeve:

And a primary hybrid, Ashburtoniane, that have been working on its bud for a while, the bud is now visible enough to take pictures of (this bud is BIG, compared to all the other Paph buds I've had, so I really look forward to the flower):

That they do. The only ones I have that are growing fans are the ones that already have more than one fan... Oh, and one of my roths, but that was because it was on the verge of dying, so it made like five new fans in an desperate attempt to reproduce. Luckily, both the mother plant and the new fans are doing fine now.

And here's another update of my paphie-buds. First out is a newcomer, my little robinsonii (which I suspect will look a lot like my cerveranum), whose spike has finally started growing after sulking for some months now:

Here's my cerveranum which is a really fast grower when it comes to spikes at least:

My callosum var. sublaeve's three spikes are developing nicely (to me, for some reason, they look like three women praying):

And my Ashburtoniane, which is so much bigger than the other ones' buds:
