Default Paphiopedilum Berenice

Well, it's been quite a few weeks since I was even on OB, let alone had new blooms to show off. To make a long story short, my parents were driving from Washington to bring my car and more of my plants to me (and to see me, of course) in Massachusetts. A car accident and hospital stay in Rapid City, SD later, the car is totaled but my parents are recovering safely back home and I even salvaged a few plants. Returning to Massachusetts after helping my parents get back home and dreading the impending car shopping I would have to do, I was welcomed by my Paph. Berenice just beginning to crack open her first bud.

I bought this plant almost 3 years ago and raised it to blooming size. This is her first bloom. The second bud started to open today and looks like a third will open as well. Will post more pictures when they are all open.

She really has some fantastic timing. Just what I needed.

Thanks everyone for the nice comments and well-wishes. Not exactly the vacation I had planned.

Dave, the photo was taken in the sunroom where I'm living. Intern housing for Garden in the Woods.
