Paph NOID - Any ideas ? Male
Default Paph NOID - Any ideas ?

this one has been flowering since at least 20 Sept 2011 - and still looks strong. Has 6 new growths/fans. Any ideas what it is ? I know there are literally hundreds of thousands of paph hybrids so its virtually impossible to properly identify ?
I got this at Klehms and even he said it was a noid.

Beautiful! Sorry I can't help you with the name. I'm not a Paph guy.

My best guess would be...
Paphiopedilum Orchilla 'Chilton'
But the flower shape a bit off...
Lets wait till the others chime in...

I'll be difficult to nail down a name to this paph. Its a bulldog or complex paph of some soft. Nice colour!

Really pretty, but I don't think you'll even be able to find an exact name, just ones it's similar to.

Like Gloria said it's what's known as a buldog type of paph. I have a nice NoID one that I love is one of my best growers.

It could be Paph Orchilla, but the shape and color pattern is WAY off for the 'Chilton' clone, which is almost perfectly flat and round with just a narrow edge of white on the dorsal sepal. There are also dozens, maybe hundreds, of other crosses it could be, and may not even be registered. The form is not nearly good enough to be awarded unless it is a very old hybrid, which limits the likelyhood of any ID. Your chances of making a positive identification are somewhere between slim and none, much closer to none.
