Paph. repotting question Male
Default Paph. repotting question

everyone,

I ordered a paph. charlesworthii (4") to bloom in its season and a paph. delanatii (in a 2 1/4" pot). I am expecting to receive them this Thur. or Fri.

My question is this; i called the place where I ordered it and asked the guy if they would need to be repotted upon receipt and he said yes. Does anyone know if this will delay blooming for the charlesworthii if it is to bloom this fall?

I know that some paphs pout after being repotted. I just don't want to goof anything up...lol. Of course I haven't seen them yet, so I don't know what the root system looks like. Any info would be greatly appreciated...

Thanks,
Eddie

Eddie, I repot mine as soon as I get them, and, so far, they haven't shown any sign of pouting at all. Just remember that the new medium will dry out faster than old, so you will have to water more frequently for a while. They like to be wet, but not soggy.

Thanks Kim,

My plan is to soak some seedling bark mix in water with a little superthrive overnight and then repot the paphs the next day. What do you grow your paphs in?

Eddie...

I use Repotme Paph and Phrag mix. It's a tad expensive, but works really well for me. Your method should be just fine. BTW, I swear by superthrive. I use it every time I repot anything.

Thanks again Kim. I went online and checked out that paph and phrag mix; it seems to me as if it is a good mix. What all does it consist of?
