Question Is it OK to repot paph with active root growth?

I have a Paphiopedilum primulinum that i had to repot, today. It is currently in bloom (aren't they always? ). When I removed it from it's old home, I realized it had 3 actively growing roots. I'm fairly confident they would have, inevitably, gotten beat up a bit during the repot. would this be likely to stop their growth? I really hope that doing the repot didn't jeopardize their health.

Also, is it ok that I placed the plant in a clear pot? I did so, because I have a tendency to overwater, and feel this will help me not do so.

Any responses greatly appreciated

I know that with some 'chids it's actually advised to repot when there is active root growth. Not sure with Paphs but if the plant is wanting to grow it's roots just now I'm sure it will carry on even if these ones got a bit knocked.

I'm interested to know about the clear pot. I would really like to put my Paphs in clear pots because it's so much easier to moniter watering that way.

You can pretty much repot a Paph. at any time. They seem to be more forgiving about being disturbed than most other orchids. The one thing they don't seem to like is being over potted. Choose a pot that the roots just fit into. I have most of my Paphs in clear pots and they seem to do just fine.

Yes, Paphs don't seem to mind being repotted at any time. Earlier this year I received a Paph. urbanianum as a bonus plant. It was sent bare root and in bud . I thought for sure the bud would blast, but the plant didn't skip a beat and bloomed like normal after potting it up. It now has 3 new growths coming .

All of my Paphs have been repotted into clear plastic pots and CHC mix. I try to do mine in the early spring or fall only because that seems to be when I'm repotting some of my other plants. They don't seem to mind at all though I have had a couple of seedlings that slowed way down after a repot. They have since kicked into high gear so I'm no sure what that was about.

Do you add anything else to the CHC?How often do you water, and what temp do you have. Mine have been 70-72 day & 65 @ night.

My recipe for potting mix is 4 parts CHC, 1 part charcoal, 1 part perlite. My temps are intermediate so about the same as yours, maybe a little warmer in summer. I water weekly most of the year, but in the summer when it's hot I often give them a mid week water.
