Question Paphiopedilum Clifton Booth or ??

Okay, I got these Paphs from a going out of business sale and they have tags Paphiopedilum St. Swithin x primulinum.

I was researching the name information so I can enter it into my Journal and also so I can make sure the extra one is labeled correctly before I send it to its new home and I am puzzled.

I find that the cross is showing registered as Clifton Booth BUT the other way around. Paph primulinum (seed parent) x Saint Swithin (pollen parent).

So is it more likely that my tags are printed wrong (not handwritten BTW - printed) or do you think I have a different unregistered cross?

OR - am I having a totally dumb moment and am just reading it all wrong (seed parent vs pollen parent).

Here is a link showing it labeled the way my tag reads.

Paphiopedilum Clifton Booth: Carter and Holmes Orchids

RHS shows it the other way around.

Just a question here. Regardless of who the seed or pollen parent is wouldn't a primulinum X Saint Swithin be named Clifton Booth??? It's the same plants being used.

I don't think so but I'm not an expert.

If it was Saint Swithin X something else then you would have another hybrid but to me Saint Swithin x primulinum would still be the same regardless of who produced seeds; then again I'm no expert either so let's wait for the more experience Paph growers to chime in on this one.

I'm certainly no expert, but I'm fairly sure I read somewhere that the named cross stays the same regardless of which plant is the pollen parent. That may only hold true in primary crosses.
Here's an article from Bob Wellenstein of Antec.

Rolando and Bill are right. No matter which way it's crossed it's still Clifton Booth. I think they are called reciprocal crosses.

As Terri says, they're reciprocals of the same cross. It doesn't matter which one is the pollen parent and which is the pod parent.
