Paph. Prime Child - Orchid Board

Good news and bad news...the bad news is sandwiched in between two pieces of good news, so it isn't really too bad after all.

I received this plant as a raffle plant from my local orchid society last June. About a month or so ago, I noticed its first spike coming along. The first bloom you can see here...this is all the bottom slice of good news...

Yesterday I was checking out my plants...like I do every day...and I noticed that the next bud on the spike was laying on the ground...OH NO...I picked it up and noticed a couple of small holes...YIKES...When I looked at the spike where the bud had been, it was hanging on…by just a thread...and a small worm was gorging itself. I won't go into any specific details about what happened next, but suffice it to say that it won't be doing that trick again!

...this is the bad news stuff in the middle....

On closer inspection of the rest of the plant, I found no more wormy things...but I did find...another spike!!!!! Yeah! All's well that ends well!

Very nice, I'm glad you didn't find anymore worms and got another spike! That was one roller coaster ride of a story!

I actually found a moth out by the pool today...about 6 or 7 feet from the stand I have this plant on....I wasn't taking any chances...and it won't be going for any laps around the pool any more either.
