surprisingly, this plant has a very strong influence from Paph. sukhakulii (see spotting on sepals and pattern of labellum). I said surpringly, because the teh other plants from the same cross that has bloomed so far, has a stronger influence from Paph. helenae. I have contacted the vendor and showed him these pictures. He was very positively surprised with it, due to the spotting on the sepals and the pattern of the labellum (and even suggested to let it grow stronger, and let it be judged in the future )

On the other hand, I think I will go for one of its sisters, with more gold/orange flowers and without spots

This is the least dominant I have seen Paph helenae in a cross. It usually is very dominant for reducing plant and flower size. Is that true in this case?

It is very apparent for the stance of the flower but not the coloration.

the size of the plant and of the flower is indeed very reduced. The form of the flower is also strongly influenced by Paph helenae but as yyou said, the colors are more on the Paph sukhakuli side..

here you can see one of the sisters, which clearly shows a stronger influence from Paph helenae

That's a very good looking Paph! Nice speckles. Of course, since I have no clue what the parents look like, to my uneducated eye it just looks like a beautiful Paph.

Gorgeous plant, Ramón! One of these is now on my 'to add' list! I could do with a couple really small Paphs.

oh yeah, Shannan... they are really little cuties... all paph. helenae hybrids I know so far are just stunning... maybe not the best flower shape to win an FCC, but they are very very charming I wish I could get all of them... and Paph. helenae itself (and the sapce for all of them too )

Is the nursery that you posted the links to the only one you've found that carries these?


I would want to try one first to make sure they liked my conditions - before getting too many. Can you imagine what the sangii cross would be like? (I almost ordered a sangii recently!!)

Shannan, I only know the two I have (from Luzerner Garten) and also Wössner Mini Goldi (here some pics Flickr: Search fero252000's photostream ) and Wössner Minigold

However, I have not been able to localize any other of the hybrids yet... (only the two I have) I think that if you contact Mr. Wössner ( Home ) maybe he has some of them. I have not yet contacted him asking for other hybrids, because I know he does not send to Switzerland (same a sLuzerner garten does not send out of Switzerland)
