Repotting a Paph - any specific requirements?
Default Repotting a Paph - any specific requirements?

I dipped my toe into Paphiopedilums last June as part of the 2024 summer project purchasing Paph. Debbie Robinson, a primary hybrid which has since flowered in my care and is now putting out a new growth.

My question - is there a specific time in the growth cycle to repot Paphs? The media (small bark and perlite mix) is quite degraded now and my plant is not as secure in the pot as I would like. I will be repotting in a more medium bark but with the addition of perlite once more. Should I add some sphagnum? I use it successfully in my Catts, Oncidiums, Dendrobiums and Phals.

I repot anytime, although have never tried it when one's in bloom. Your mix sounds fine to me, although I don't grow that way. Because they like moist feet, you just about need to repot once a year if using an organic mix.

Have read the warm growing multi-florals are supposed to be repotted during warmer weather due to slower growth in winter months. But I've never paid much attention to that.
