Default Paphiopedilum barbigerum semi-alba

I grew this from a rather small seedling. It is still in the original 2 1/2 inch pot and is forming a nice clump of multiple growths. The flowers are about as large as the plant itself. I think this species has a lot of character.

beautiful flower and well grown indeed

i always find the similarities between paphs and nepnthenes to be so interesting- they both have such similar morphology but with vastly different purposes and uses...it is so crazy about how taxonomy works and the deceptive differences between a gradistic classification and a cladistic one.

That's the great thing about orchid growing. It develops our skills in 'patience'! You did excellently in raising this one from seedling. Fantastic flower too! Not just fantastic ----- huge too! Well worth the wait!!
