Sweet ... I have one only one (needs a companion) that I fell in love with but its a very slow grower as others on the International thread have said...I think some might be lost or loose interest in the lengthy growing process.

I could probably supply enough Paph. wardii to carpet the world, if you wanted to play with that species. My personal favorite species... There is a bit of a trick to growing it well, just like any species, of course.

How are you planning on getting whatever plants you choose distributed 'internationally'?

Hi Rob...it's amazing that you posted this. I've been "window-shopping" to see what I might be interested in, and Paph wardii was put on my list yesterday

Are they slow-growers? We're trying to stay away from choosing a plant that's going to take a few years to bloom.

As for the "international" part of this...
once we really get this rolling and people start making their suggestions, it will have to be confirmed that the members in Canada or any other country that joins us,
will be able to get the same plant. It'll be another aspect of putting this thing together.

We'd love to have you join us...interested???
If so, please vote in the poll, and post a little note saying you'd like to join us.

Thanks for the input, and I'm sure it'll be put through the selection process

I'd vote but I can't find the poll... *grin*

In my humble opinion, P. wardii has all the features that make a perfect slipper (almost perfect). It is a species, which gives it an additional 10 points from the start. It stays small, but grows vigorously. Awesomely beautiful foliage, which is great because no plant is in bloom all the time. And, last but not least, the flower is pretty neat. Main drawback to this species is that the flower buds seem to be more prone to blasting than other paphs (especially on first bloom seedlings).

Sam Tsui told me once that he often blooms them in compot. I'm not that good, but they do bloom 1-2 years out of compot. On plants 6-8" leaf span.
