Default Cypripedium Lady Dorine

A new one for me, bought in November.

It's a hybrid of formosanum which I also have and you can see the similarities in the shape of the pouch and also in the leaf shape (even though the leaves have several up a stem, rather than just two at the top like formosanum, you can still see the similarity there).

I really love these flowers, so hoping this one does well for me in future years. Only this one and my formosanum have done well this year and one seems to have disappeared over the winter

Cool. Some day I hope to take the plunge and try out some cyps. This hybrid is really pretty. How do you grow it?

Thanks Pattywack and MrHappyRotter.

My hubby takes the pictures, though I assist with suggestions of changes to focal point or depth of field, or framing. He has a proper backdrop, light box and tripod for our camera though and seems to enjoy setting everything up for orchid photo shoots

I grow this in the garden mostly, although being related to formosanum I bring it in to the (cool) greenhouse as the growth starts to show to protect it from frost. Like formosanum it is one of the first Cyps to show growth and because that's still when we are getting frosts it needs protecting. It usually flowers in the greenhouse then I put it back out with the other Cyps. Likes to be in a shaded spot as with all Cyps and while dormant can take frost or even snow (I cover the pots to keep them drier during the really cold weather).

I water two or three times a week when it's active with fertiliser if it hasn't had too much rain and as much rain as it can get.

Yes, but nowhere near as good as last year. I has about four growths one of which is in bud at the moment.

Gorgeous!! I'm sure your husbands photos do the blooms justice. Everytime I see you post I want to try growing some in my urban garden.
