I wouldn't chose fairrieanum if I were you. They are very difficult to keep alive for any length of time. Although very beautiful I think they are really for pro plant growers. I have one in flower but nervous as a kitten that it will 'pop it's clogs' rather than producing further growths.

Ed, what's your definition of a fair length if time?

Hi. Difficult to estimate. These phrags can stay rootless and dormant for months and months showing no deteriation and also showing no signs of growth. They just refuse to do anything and die. That's all I can say others will probably find them easy--but not me!!!!

Hmm, I bought a single growth plant in flower a year ago. It is now sending up 3 new growths at once as well as lots of root growth. I do think these do a lot better under high light. 2000-3000 fc is what is recommended. At first mine wasn't doing much because I had it in a more shaded area. I did a little research on it and realized I probably wasn't giving it enough light. I moved it to my brightest area, and it perked right up.

I agree with what Terri said and would also add that some plants need to "get going" before they really take off.

Smaller plants might not have enough critical mass to really establish until... they do.

I found this to be the case with my fairrieanums.

I'm always willing to learn so could you please tell me how you cultivate this. Max and min temps. compost
watering regime etc,. because i can not, as I said previously, keep this specie going.
Thankyou.

Tindomul, I was wondering what you decided to get. I really liked that terrarium set up you have.
