Default Cypripedium acaule in western PA

My wife and I camped at a state park in western PA for our anniversary in mid May. While the mountain laurels were about a week away, we did run across a nice stand of Pink Lady's Slippers.





My favourite shot below.

very nice!! this is a beautiful cyp species! i really want to find some seed grown cyp sand make a cyp bed in my yard!

ps. how are the fish?

Some say epiphytic orchids are parasite, for living on trees.. However, I say that orchids are parasites for luring us humans to take them into our homes to feed and care for them. Much more care than they would get in the wild....
