Default Mexipedium xerophyticum 'Oaxaca'

This guy is almost ready to bloom. I got him as a replacement for the one I killed last year.

Windy Hill Gardens and Marilyn LeDoux. She is an expert at growing these and wrote an article about them in Orchid Digest 1996. I'm not sure what issue.

They're from Mexico. Since the clonal name is 'Oaxaca', I'm assuming that's the region in Mexico this particular variety was collected from. They are lithophytes in the wild. That's as much as I know. Hope this helps.

I know she is an expert! I saw a picture of one of her mother plants of Mexipedium, it is extraordinary!!!
Just email her a few weeks ago and she had nothing left to sell, completely out of Mexi...

I got mine from Chuck Taylor. It is still a young plant, but it is in spike. When I bought it a year ago it had 2 new leads, and now I have a total of 4 at various stages of development, and 2 new leads. I have also accidently knocked off 2 leads. He comes to BC for the shows, so keep an eye out for him.

Can't wait to see the full bloom. How dry do you keep this?
