They are in pots, which are then inside bigger pots of gravel outside. I move them to a sheltered spot over the winter and usually cover the pots as well while they are dormant.

I've been told it's best to have bigger pots so that they are protected from the sides when there is frost, and to cover them so they are not too wet over the winter. However I've also heard stories of ones that survived -15 in Scotland inside medium that had been so wet it went like an ice cube. Not sure I'd want to risk that myself though.

In wikipedia, the flower's lip is also "pukered". Seems like that's the way the pouch is.

Thanks Andrew, there is a 'crinkling' of the pouch edges that I've seen in others, but this one has like a valley half way down that is puckered more and to my eye makes it look a bit mis-shapen. To be honest though when I look back at the pictures now it really is quite pretty anyway
