Thanks everyone, and thanks for the tip Gloria.

I only recently realised that Phrags are sometimes grown with their feet wet, which scares me, I usually do best with ones which are kept drier. I put my first phrag (Paul Eugine Conroy) in S/H a few weeks back as I think I will be comfortable keeping it wetter that way. I will think about trying the same with this one I think.

Sorry Ted, missed this. The leaves mostly go up then down, so the plant is not that far accross. Just measured and it's about half a meter accross in it's natural position.

Then after we had already paid this grower for something else and were about to walk away he said "What about getting this one as well, I know you wanted one like this"

I had almost bought this hybrid from the same grower when we visited their nursary in July, but instead let Hubby choose which of two Phrags he preferred. He chose the other one back then (Paul Eugene Conroy).

So it pays to let the other half take a part in the orchid buying decisions... because now I have both!

Phrag Memorial Dick Clements is sargentianum x besseae and is in turn one of the parents of Phrag Jason Fischer as well as other hybrids.

The plant has a new growth starting, and I can see 2 maybe even 3 buds following the existing flower.

Hey RosieC, I just bought me a Phrag Memorial Dick Clements today, very lovely flower indeed, unfortunately I could not post a pic of the flower as it fell off during transport, but there is another bud on it ready to open and as you have stated, 2 others right behind that, question! Do these open 1 at a time or do all buds open at the same time?

Hi Jeffery,

It seems to be a sequential, with at most two flowers open together for a day, maybe two, before the older one drops.

Currently mine is always openeing the next flower just before the last one drops, but it can range from a few hours before, to a couple of days before.

It currently has the 4th flower open with a large bud looking close and other bud (at least one) forming behind.

yes I see! they look nice with more than 1 flower open, the way to looked with the other buds so far behind in growth, that it appeared 1 only opened at a time, but I don't know how long lived these flowers are, this one just opened on me a few days ago and to my suprise, I got a new spike coming in on this plant, cool beans
