Default Phrag spike question

My Phrag Eric Young is sending up two new spikes after blooming this spring. However, the first spike is doing something strange. I grow it in an east facing window with an overhead 40 watt cfl, as the window gets very little sun this time of year. At night, when the drape is closed, it bends almost horizontally toward the window; 1st pic. It straightens up, sort of, around noon; 2nd pic, and by one or so, bends almost horizontally away from the window. It's been doing this for three or four days now. It looks pretty healthy, but I'm totally at a loss as to why it would bend so dramatically so much. Any ideas?

Some of my Phrags have done this in the past. Often it is because the stem is elongating towards the light source, but in this case, it seems to just be a strange growth habit. Once the first bloom opens, it will likely need staking.

Thanks, Joe. I've had them grow toward the light in one direction, but never change so much in such a short time. It seems to have calmed down now, and both spikes are growing straight.
