Default New Phrag. YIKES!

I knew these guys got big, but---! I just unpacked this, and boy, am I out of room now. It's Phrag Eric Young 4N Mont Millais' x Sorcerer's Apprentice 4N. That's a three inch pot, and the spike is two feet, and just showing buds. Needless to say, I'm thrilled, but a bit overwhelmed.

It's a monster! It must have been in a really really big box! The pot looks so small in comparison to the plant. Now what are you going to do with it when it puts out new growths?

FEED ME SEYMOUR!

I know what you mean. Some are really huge. China Dragon is one of my favorites but I just don't have the room. I look for hybrids with bessea or schlimii in the parentage. At least I have a chance they won't take over the house!

I fear I might have to give this guy away at some point as I do not have much room and I am sure someone with more space could give it a better home than I can but I so want to see it bloom first, I was told it only flowers once from a leaf fan so I might have to wait a very long time. If anyone in the UK wants a Phrag Eric Young be warned I might have one going lol

Yes Carrie, they only flower once per fan, but you can get over a dozen flowers per stem on some phrags. They can bloom for months they put on a real show
Keep you're big puppy well watered, fed and good lighting. You just might will fall in love and find space for it. I hope you do

Thank you Lagoon I thought they liked mainly shade so I have been going wrong when I get my new light fitted He will no doubt be a happier chappy, 12 flowers per stem hey ? now that would be a site to behold. I will see how I get on with him and if he will flower for me.
