Phragmipedium caricinum
Flowering now this beautiful Brazilian Phragmipedium. I really love it because it keeps giving flower after flower for five to six months. When one flower drops, the next is opening. Sometimes it holds two for one or two days.

Mauro, for your you know your (gorgeous) plant better than what I do, but... I am just confused when you say brazilian Phrag... isn't Phrag caricinum an Bolivian endemit?

Ramón, I should have been more precise. By my phrase it seems that it is only Brazilian, but this is only partially true. My references are that, right, it has its main distribution in Bolivia, but also would occur in Peru, Ecuador and in the far west Brazilian Amazon region. A quick search on the Internet really produces a series of results pointing out that it would be endemic to Bolivia, but there are also some others saying that it would in fact be spread over a larger area. Cases like these are difficult because all the information we get is second hand... (what can we do, after all  ) |

Thanks for your answer! I know that specially in regions like that it is not always easy to define distribution ranges, as it is always depending on where the expeditions go to and where the plants have been collected. This species is shown in the distribution map quite close to the brazilian border, so it is easy to imagine that the range could spread up to Brazil too. |
