Why don't you keep it?
In your climate, Cymbs outside are one of those plants that we can forget about them. We only notice them when they bloom.

My you can order tea cup sized cymbs from Santa Barbara Orchid Estates. Overseas, IDK. I recently ordered some and they mature and bloom in a 4-6" pot, in the pot, under a foot tall. I'd also keep it, cover it, and move it close to the building in inclement weather. They're tough.

If you are thinking of getting rid of it then your local orchid society - Lea Valley Orchid Society - should be able to help - I'm pretty sure someone would take it off your hands and you may be able to do a swap for something more manageable.

Leave it outside until you have notice of frost. As to rain, Cyms in the wild get rain, sometimes for days at a time! You can keep it in a sheltered place outside but my plants are out all winter, rain or shine. The only reason I give them cover in the winter is to protect the blooms from spotting. They will take 28F for no more than 4-6 hours but not advisable if in spike.

As for slugs and snails, there are many baits on the market for that.

We do not know which clone you got, and as previously mentioned, there are several. I have 'Scott Valine'. Purchased it about 8 years ago, and it took best in show at Southeast Pennsylvania OS back in the spring.

Yes, it is not a miniature, but it is not as large as a standard either. And, it can put on a real display, so strongly recommend that you keep it.

I keep this plant outside from late April through late October (sometimes late November, depends upon when temps drop below 32F).
