I wouldnt worry too much about fast growth unless it is fast, soft and light colored. My cymbidiums sometime grow so fast and big that they split the pots - then I am sure I need to repot. Soft cymbidiums may scald or brown and die in the sun. Had that happon with soft fast growth after 3 huricanes were thru her a few years ago - too much water, too much fertilizer, not enougt light caused fast soft growth - the hot sun - blasted the new growths. Right now I have a soft light colored growth that came on when we had it in the house to enjoy the flowers (Cym Honey Bunny 'Sugar candy') I will increase its light slowly so as not to burn that new growth.
